Soggy Mountain
Alan Cleveland - Lyrics, Guitars, Vocals
Darren Friday - Drums, Guitars, Vocals
Willy Sportel - Bass, Vocals, Guitars
It is extremely difficult to get musicians to participate in Juneau and we are currently seeking anyone with natural giftings in vocals, guitars, or keyboards to join us as we endevour to forward the sound.
Specifically, we could use a good pianist as well as a female vocalist for several songs. But, if you lack committment to the cause of making music, please stick to karaoke.
Nathan Campbell appears on a few tracks as lead guitars. No one knows why he went AWOL... but I consider this to be an unfortunate loss for both parties.
A note from Alan:
It is only recently that I came to the conclusion that I am, in no uncertain terms a song writer. I do not consider myself to be a musician or a singer, but, I fill those roles for the time being in an attempt to represent the integrity trapped within the songs. In moving forward, no one knows what tomorrow will bring, but, my sincere hope is that I can offer a genuine opportunity to people who are more musically gifted than myself.
The songs that run off of my pen and through my guitar tend to be complete thoughts or stories. Not to brag, but I don't see too much of that in the music world. And, to be sure this is no boast - I take no credit for what I consider to be design. The gift comes from the timeless voice that I call God. I am just in the very fortunate position of hearing it. As the gift comes to me, I share it with those around me.
I lost about a year and a half of my life trying to share this gift with someone who owns some recording equipment here in town. The creative differences between us were too large, and, I grew tired of having the songs recreated rather than developed through their own voices.
A friend of mine calls this "being in service to the song." They will write themselves if we can keep the "masters" away from them and just follow where they lead.
So here we are in Willy's garage, learning how to capture them to the best of our ability so that they can be heard in their most natural state.
Our knowledge of the equipment is weak to say the least, but, like it is in all things, you do the best you can with what you have.
Here's to something real.
